Film Review: Tekken [2010]

Tekken tells the story of street fighter Jin Kazama entering a tournament to avenge his mother who was killed by soldiers of the Tekken Corporation. Tekken is the Japanese name for Iron Fist. This movie is much better than I thought it would be for a 1994 video game adaptation. My expectations were not high for the film however it was very well put together and key characters had their moments to shine.

However the women really stole the show within this movie with actresses Kelly Overton, Candicé Hillebrand, and Tamlyn Tomita.

- South African-born actress and singer CandicĂ© Hillebrand plays picture perfect Nina Williams. Check out Hillebrand’s music single Hello on YouTube.
- Tamlyn Tomita (Karate Kid Part II) plays a small role of someone who used to work for the Tekken Corporation and the mother of the movie’s main character Jin Kazama

Actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa may have over exaggerated his acting by portraying the CEO of the Tekken Corporation compared to the one he portrayed in Rising Sun. Certain scenes and characters are forced together into situations to enhance the story. There is a scene after the credits which were a nice surprise. The movie is not without its flaws however it is enjoyable escape for a video game adaptation.
