Currently this version of Spider-Man is a five movie arc which began last year with Captain America: Civil War, continues with Homecoming, Avengers 3 and 4 and Homecoming 2 which takes place immediately after Avengers 4.
After the disaster of Amazing Spider-Man 2, Sony teamed up with Marvel where Sony pays for the film and distributes it while Marvel provides the story. The budget for Amazing Spider-Man 2 was $293 Million compared to $175 Million for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Sony was definitely hedging their risks with their collaboration with Marvel. Overall the end product was a worthy film which incorporated lots of elements from the comics that made the Spider-Man character appealing. There was no rehash of his origin story, Uncle Ben, or the Osborns which gave the movie a fresh start.

Now Tony Stark has stepped in to replace him and Toomes is out for revenge by using Shocker and the Tinker to scavenge alien artifacts and sell it to criminals. The sequels are following each year of Peter Parker's schooling similar to the Harry Potter series.
Movie Review War for the Planet of the Apes is the third film of the recent reboot consisting of Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. These movies are a contemporary prequels to the 1968 Planet of the Apes film. It lays the foundations for the civilization we see in the 1968 film. There is a fourth film planned where we actually see the character of Taylor returning from space and discovering the Planet of the Apes.

Weekly Roundup | DC and Marvel Comics May 2017 Solicitations
Both DC
and Marvel May 2017 Solicitations were released this week. Last May 2016 DC Comics
released DC Universe: Rebirth #1, which was closure for the New 52
as well as the merging of the DC and Watchmen universes. This year they are
kicking off events every month beginning in January with the conclusion of the Justice
League vs. Suicide Squad. Then in February we saw the launches for the new Justice
League of America and the return of the Wildstorm Universe. In March we
will have Superman Reborn, April was The Button (The crossover
between Batman and Flash titles), and now in May we have the Lazarus
Contract which runs between Titans, Teen Titans, and Deathstroke.
As far as publishers are concerned, DC Comics have an overarching story where each of the stories builds upon DC Universe: Rebirth. Superman Reborn and The Button are prime examples of DC building a universe while Marvel has an event with Secret Empire. Regardless whatever happens Marvel will return to its original status quo while DC layers legacy within its titles.
Retailers
should limit their orders based on pre-order sales. A conservative approach is
the best in the collector’s market to limit inventory which will later drive up
demand. Readers
should pick comics based on writers and artists they enjoy. If they enjoy the
comics then somewhere down the line someone else would enjoy the stories as
well. Key to collecting would be to focus on variant covers if possible to
enhance collectability.

In the far future the Thanagarians arrive on Earth and laid waste to it as well as Vanishing Point. The Time Masters realize Vandal Savage united the world and save it from them. They engineered the death of Hunter's family by Vandal Savage to give Hunter the motivation to stop Savage throughout time. However due to Hunter's interference, Savage grew stronger quicker and prepared to defend the world from the Thanagarians. Realizing Savage was being aided by the Time Masters, the Legends decides to destroy Oculus which gives the Time Masters the map throughout time. Now the Time Masters have cut ties with Savage as the Legends are free to choose their own destiny.
Savage is going to use the blood of both Hawkman and Hawkgirl on the Thanagarian meteors in three different time periods to set a time quake to return to the past. The Legends discover that using their blood on the meteor will render Savage mortal. The Legends use this chance to kill Savage in three different time periods and to render the meteors inert. They manage to kill Savage in all three time periods however only stopped two of the meteors from exploding. Rip Hunter takes the last meteor into the sun with the Waverider. Now with the Time Masters gone Hunter and his Legends are set to protect the timeline. As the finale ends another new threat emerges as another Waverider crashes on Earth and Rex Tyler AKA Hourman of the Justice Society of America reveals the Legends are gone in his timeline.

Devil Comics Review | Legends of Tomorrow Pilot [2016]
The series begins in the future where Vandal Savage
taken over the planet. Rip Hunter appeals to the Time Council to save history
from Vandal Savage before he destroys it. Since the time capsule has no army, Hunter
decides to recruit his own army to join his crusade to stop Savage. Atom, White
Canary, Firestorm, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Heatwave, and Captain Cold join Rip
Hunter to stop Savage. They board the time travelling ship the Waverider and
travel to 1975 while a temporal bounty hunter Chronos arrives in the present
hunting Captain Rip Hunter.
In 1975 they discover from an historian that Hawkman,
Hawkgirl, and Savage were exposed to the same radiation so killing one of them
will pass immorality to the other. They discover the historian is the son of
Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Chronos arrives in 1975 and attacks the Waverider as the
Legends return to the ship to escape. Hunter reveals that they are not Legends but the
opposite and Chronos works for the Time Council. Savage killed Hunter’s wife
and child and now he wants him stopped.
The Legends track Savage where he is a seller of a nuclear device which he arms to defeat them. Firestorm absorbs the explosion before the nuclear fallout. During the battle with Savage, the Atom leaves a part of his tech which Savage reverse engineers to destroy Central City in 2016. Martin Stein seeks his 25 year-old self to track down the Alpha particles to Atom’s suit while Captain Cold, Heatwave and the Atom track down the knife that originally killed Hawkman and Hawkgirl leading them to Savage. The Legends confront and fight Savage as Hawkman dies while Hawkgirl is injured. The pilot kicks off a worthy series joining both Arrow and the Flash in a united DC Universe.

DC Comics Convergence [2015] by Jeff King | Carlo Pagulayan | Stephen Segovia
Convergence is a two-month epic
consisting of nine issues while the regular DC titles are placed on hiatus. The
series spins out of New 52: Futures End
and Earth 2: World’s End. The
villains are Brainiac who has been collecting multiverses and a new one named Telos
which will be introduced within the series.
Convergence
#0
begins with Superman meeting multiple Brainiacs who reveal the Master has not
returned from Earth 0. Unknown to them the Master Brainiac was defeated in Futures
End. We learn Brainiac has been defeated by Superman throughout the
multiverse however dies by other means. The events of Superman: Doomed where
Superman was infected by the Doomsday virus was orchestrated by Brainiac after
witnessing the Death of Superman in another universe. The
cities of dead worlds are here from throughout the Multiverse. Now Telos releases
the domes that separate each world so the characters will fight to survive. The
surviving heroes of Earth 2 after World’s End will arrive in the first
issue of Convergence. Overall this is a great issue if you have been following
the events of Superman: Doomed, Earth 2 World’s End and New 52
Futures End.Convergence #1 begins as solicited a few months ago with the Earth 2 heroes arriving and Telos releases the domes of the different worlds from across the DC Multiverse to fight for their survival. The book and the ties-ins are more nostalgia than anything more by bringing back characters and events from the 70s, 80’s, and 90s together. Too many characters with very little story and the book reminds me of Countdown: Arena in 2007 which has a similar premise.

Convergence #2 begins as the heroes of Earth 2 free themselves and fight back against Telos. Green Lantern Alan Scott discovers Telos is afraid of something beneath the planet. Meanwhile Thomas Wayne and Richard Grayson head towards another Gotham where they meet Bruce Wayne. The Bat symbol on Bruce Wayne changes form panel-to-panel which makes it annoying as it shows the artists rushed through this weekly series. The finale sees the heroes meet Deimos who claims he can get them off the planet.
Convergence
#3 Telos heads to
the City of Kandor
the first city Brainiac took. It’s residents along with Nightwing and Firebird oppose
Telos which leads them to their fates. Thomas Wayne and Richard Grayson take on
the Pre-Flashpoint Batman villains but Wayne
sacrifices himself as the Joker arrives and shoots Grayson. Telos arrives in
time and kills the Joker and asks Grayson where are the Earth 2 heroes. Meanwhile
Deimos takes the Earth 2 heroes below the planet into another displaced reality Skartaris.
Convergence #4 The Earth 2 heroes travel through Skartaris to get to the castle where the Warlord has imprisoned the Time Masters consisting on Monarch, Extant, Hourmen, as well as the Time Trapper. Deimos is a high priest who wanted Skartaris for years and takes the power of the Time Masters. Deimos tells Brainiac he can free from his imprisonment from the events in New 52 Futures End.
Convergence #5 Demios uses the powers of the Time Masters to reveal to Telos who he is. Brainiac used Telos in exchange for saving his family. The Earth 2 heroes attack Demios however the castle collapses so they travel to gather the rest of the heroes from the other cities as Richard Grayson accepts his destiny as Batman. Demios arrives at Brainiac’s occupation chamber and announces to the heroes of the cities that there is no longer as reason to fight since Brainiac is banished and he will protect them for a price.

Convergence
#6 begins in the
New 52 Universe as a arrival of a new planet draws the attention of Superman,
the Red Lanterns, Darkseid, the Monitor as well as the Oracle. Deimos wants
loyalty otherwise he will destroy cities within the hour. The heroes of the
various cities unite against Deimos. Grayson speaks to Telos who recently found
out the truth about himself and asks him to join the heroes to save the world
from Deimos. As the heroes gather, Deimos has gathered his own army of villains
to kill them all.
Convergence #7 in the New 52 the Justice League and Stormwatch gather with Oracle as war erupts on the world of Telos. Deimos and Telos battle each other as both the heroes and villains discovers Deimos wants all of them to die so he can use their energies to recreate the world. Hal Jordan as Parallax finally destroys Deimos however the power of the Time Masters are released into the New 52 Universe and reality is coming apart.

Convergence
#8
as reality comes apart Booster Gold and Wave Rider arrives and releases
Brainiac who gives us his origin. He is a survivor of the multiverse from
Crisis to Infinite Earths, Infinite Crisis, 52, and Flashpoint. Brainiac plans on
sending everyone home and resetting the multiverse however something is
blocking him, the first Crisis. Brainiac send Superman with Lois and their
daughter, Parallax, Flash, and Supergirl to prevent the collapse of the
multiverse. The multiverse is saved and Brainiac returns to Earth-0 as the
heroes of Earth 2 remain on the world of Telos as it is being destroyed.
However with Brainiac and Telos gone their ties to the world is severed. The
world of Telos becomes the new Earth 2 and it returns back to its universe.
Green Lantern uses his ring to signal the refugees back to the new Earth 2.

E94: Batman #40 | Justice League #40 | The Multiversity #2 Reviews [Devil Comics Entertainment]
Batman #40 begins with Batman teaming up with his family and
villains to stop the Joker who gains the upper end. However when the Joker
unmasks Batman he finds out its Richard Grayson while the real Batman is
attempting to find the cure to the Joker’s toxin beneath Gotham. The Joker has
rigged the cave to collapse as Batman finds the chemical that healed the Joker’s
face and body from the events of Death of the Family. After a fierce
battle between both of them, Batman manages to get a sample of the toxin to Julia
Pennyworth as the Joker collapses the cave with both of them inside. The issue
ends with both Batman and the Joker dead setting up a new status quo next issue
with a new Batman following Convergence.
Justice League #40 is the prologue of the Darkseid War as Metron begins the story of how he brokered peace between Apokolips and New Genesis by exchanging the sons of Darkseid and Highfather. Orion from Apokolips and Scot Free of New Genesis were exchanged and war between the worlds was prevented. However the Crisis of Infinite Earths began threatening reality, Zero Hour threatened time, Infinite Crisis threatened the Multiverse, and Flashpoint threatened both reality and time.
During
Forever Evil the Crime Syndicate’s world of Earth-3 was destroyed by the
Anti-Monitor who plans to follow them to New Earth. Metron knows the
Anti-Monitor as Mobius who was once the observer like Metron rather than the
destroyer he is now. The Anti-Monitor’s actions lead to the Multiverse
vulnerable to the events of Convergence. Metron wants to help Mobius
become the Monitor again however it was begin with the death of Darkseid with
the help of his daughter.
The Multiversity #2 is the conclusion to Grant Morrison’s epic following Final Crisis. Heroes from throughout the Multiverse are brought together to face a crisis. They are preparing for a full-scale invasion from a higher order reality by building a volunteer army of 50 worlds. Operation Justice Incarnate is formed. The Multiversity [2014-2015] by Grant Morrison | Jim Lee
THE
MULTIVERSITY Grant Morrison begins his next epic
following Final Crisis as he maps
out the DC Multiverse. The last Monitor Nix Uotan rescues Thunderer and asks
him to assemble a team from the Multiverse.
The Society of Super-Heroes: Conquerors of the Counter-World #1 The Society of Super-Heroes (S.O.S) sees Doc Fate assemble a team of heroes including Anthro the Immortal Man, the Atom, Green Lantern Abin Sur, and the Blackhawks to protect the Earth against an invasion from a parallel Earth. They take on Vandal Savage, Felix Faust, Blockbuster, Lady Shiva, and Parallax.
The Just #1 The past generation of superheroes leaves their children in a carefree world where they are not need in The Multiversity: The Just. Until a superhero Sapphire Mason AKA Megamorpho committed suicide. Now both Batman and Superman investigate the murder. Batman discovers Megamorpho killed herself after reading a comic book. They discover the comic books might carry an infection from parallel worlds.
We are
made aware that Lex Luthor killed Superman and Chris Kent is resentful to
Alexis Luthor because her father killed his father. The issue includes other
superheroes including Plastic Man’s son Off Spring, the Flash Wally West, Green
Arrow Conner Hawke, Alpha Centurion, Wonder Woman Artemis. Together they will
form the super-team the Just.
Pax Americana #1 Grant Morrison gives a Watchmen feel to his latest Multiversity issue Pax Americana. The first and last panel begins and ends with the infinity symbol. The issue begins as the President is assassinated by his own bodyguard Chris Smith the Peacemaker. The end of the issue sees a young President kill his own father who was the superhero Yellowjacket. The death of his father pushes him to build a superhero team led by Captain Atom to redeem himself for killing father. We also find out Captain Atom is missing for a year through an artificial black hole and Super-Hero has become a dirty word. The Question tries to find out who killed Nora O’Rourke who cracked Algorithm B the pattern that explains everything as well as trying to find the answer of why Yellowjacket disappear. The idea of superheroes failed a long time ago on Earth-4 which makes them succumb to the events in the Multiversity. This issue is very dense and a different type of storytelling as the climax is at both the beginning and end of the story.
The Multiversity: Thunderworld #1 begins as Dr. Sivana tracks the Rock of Eternity to find the power source of Captain Marvel so he can transform his children. Sivana imprisons the Wizard Shazam and creates an artificial day called Sivanaday, an impossible day, the day Captain Marvel dies. Shazam, Mary Marvel, and Captain Marvel Jr. stop the Sivana Family and deal with the Monster Society. Shazam heads towards the Rock of Eternity to save the Wizard from Sivana who becomes Black Sivana. Shazam wins when the artificial day eighth day is over.
The Multiversity: Guidebook #1 begins as the events of Thunderworld spills over as the Sivanas of the Multiverse attack the Little League as the Earth-17 Batman arrives to save them. We are given the history of the DC Universe beginning with the Flash of Two Worlds, the Crisis on Earth-One where the Justice Society and Justice League first met, Crisis of Infinite Earths, Zero Hour, Infinite Crisis, Final Crisis, Flashpoint, and finally the Multiversity. We are also given an index of the 52 known worlds of the DC Multiverse. It is also revealed that the Monitor Nix Uotan of the Gentry unleashes Darkseid to plague creation. His hand is the same one at the beginning of creation. The finale of the issue sees the Multiverse heroes assemble against the threat from the first issue of Multiversity.

The
Multiversity: Mastermen #1 begins as Overman’s rocket arrives in Germany during
World War II and Hilter makes him his unstoppable weapon. After the Germans win
the war, Overgirl is dead and Uncle Sam challenges Overman by sending the Human
Bomb. Now captured the Human Bomb destroys the Eagle’s Nest and crashes the
headquarters on the population of Metropolis. Now Overman is left with nothing
as a new war begins against the Freedom Fighters. The issue was beautifully
drawn by Jim Lee but lacks the story impact as the other Multiversity
titles.
The
Multiversity: Ultra Comics #1 is the issue that has been teased
throughout the series. The character Ultra Comics breaks the Fourth Wall by
warning the reader that Earth-Prime will be under attack. We see him go through
his Golden, Silver, Bronze, and Dark Age of comics. Ultra faces his ending as
the participants within the story represent the readers of the comic demanding
a happy ending. However Ultra faces his end as Earth-Prime is now vulnerable to
attack. This was an ambitious comic by Grant Morrison and it was a successful
execution. Now we have to await the final issue of the series in The
Multiversity #2.
