Cobra Annual 2012: The Origin of Cobra Commander

COBRA ANNUAL 2012: THE ORIGIN OF COBRA COMMANDER
Following the death of the original Cobra Commander, a competition was held on who would be able to kill the most Joes. The winner was ultimately Krake whose origin is revealed within these pages. The original Cobra Commander had two different origins beginning with the G.I Joe The Movie where Cobra Commander is a different species and the comics version where he began from a MLM scheme.

The original of Krake begins in the Golden Triangle of South East Asia where he becomes an orphan at a very young age and learns to survive on his own. Krake runs into Major Bludd and the Baroness who are both working for Cobra. Krake offers Cobra control of the mainland Triads for a new face. Cobra Commander gives Krake the money he needs for a new face then murders his surgeons so no one knows his true face.

The origin of the new Cobra Commander has peaked my interests to collect the upcoming Cobra Command story arc currently running through the G.I. Joe titles. Writer Chuck Dixon has become a worth successor to Larry Hama who wrote the original G.I. Joe comics. In 1993 Chuck Dixon also wrote Batman: Vengeance of Bane which introduced the new character of Bane into the Batman mythos. Bane is currently set in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises premiering this summer.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED – 5 OUT OF 5
