Green Lantern: New
Guardians #36 begins
as Highfather takes both Kyle and Carol to New Genesis where he separates the
White Lantern ring from Kyle. Highfather plans on using the Life Equation to
defeat Darkseid and remake the universe. Carol attacks using all of her power
within her ring. Both Kyle and Carol are dumped on Old Genesis without the use
of their rings. Meanwhile Highfather tests his Life Equation to make citizens
on another planet into warriors.
In Justice League #36 the Amazo Virus is
released and Metropolis is evacuated. Both Batman and Superman stop and contain
the remaining citizens of Metropolis who has developed powers due to the Amazo
Virus. Lex Luthor created the virus from the Amazo android who can mimic
Metahuman powers. The virus was released due to someone targeting Luthor and
that person still wants him dead. Luthor can cure the virus however he needs
Patient Zero who runs into Batman and Superman. The key highlight of this issue
is Wonder Woman who seems to be looking similar to her counterpart in the
upcoming movie Batman V Superman: Dawn
of Justice.
Wonder Woman #36 is the first issue by the David Finch and his wife Meredith. A catastrophic environmental event occurs in Thailand without any explanation. Swamp Thing is in Thailand and Wonder Woman attacks him fearing he is responsible. Wonder Woman returns to Paradise Island where she is Queen of the Amazons only to find the clay statue of her mother destroyed. This issue catches up on readers from the past 35 issues however it’s a quick read. The art is fantastic however the plotting is awful as nothing has happened warranting to buy the next issue.
