Following the No Justice event in May, DC Comics follows
up with a brand new Justice League #1 and Hawkman #1 in June as well as other titles including Justice
League Dark, Justice League Odyssey, Titans, and Teen Titans in July.
Writer Brian Michael Bendis started his tenure with
Superman in Action Comics #1000 and now he continues with the six-issue limited
series The Man of Steel mirroring the John Byrne series in the eighties in
June. The series deals with a new villain Rogol Zaar who has set his sights on
Superman whose origins ties into Krypton.
Other first issues released this month includes Plastic
Man, Teen Titans Special, Titans Special, and the Unexpected. We also have a
series of one shots between DC characters and Hanna-Barbera which are not worth
mentioning.
Batman kicks off his bachelor party with a series of one
shots titled Prelude to the Wedding and a two-part Batman issues titled Best Man.
The series of one shots may best be read in trade format but the two-part
Batman issues centers on the Joker interrupting the nuptials.
Other series highlights include Black Lightning
returning to comics within the pages Detective Comics following the television
series and The Flash War continues with the possible return of Jay Garrick.
Unlike Marvel Comics who are relaunching their titles, DC Comics are positioning their stories for the future by creating richness in their characters.
