After 80 years Action Comics
finally reaches one thousand issues. The five hundredth issue came out 39 years
ago in 1979. The last milestone Action Comics #900 was in 2011 before the New
52 relaunch. Action Comics has a rich history and issue one thousand has a
series of stories by past writers including Dan Jurgens, Geoff Johns, Marv
Wolfman, Paul Levitz, Neal Adams, Louise Simonson, as well as new ones like Scott
Snyder, Tom King, Brad Meltzer, and Brian Michael Bendis. Each writer provides
their take on the Man of Steel and the stories are extraordinary. The issue is
also the first appearance of Rogol Zaar a new Superman villain responsible for
the destruction of Planet Krypton. This is a once and a lifetime comic book
milestone worth picking up.
