Superman: Earth One HC[2010] by J. Michael Straczynski & Shane Davis

SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE HARDCOVER
J. Michael Straczynski takes on his childhood dream of writing the origin of Superman. Clark Kent arrives in Metropolis to find his place in the world. Money does not tempt Clark as his adopted parents brought a sense of reality into his world. The story takes place as Clark Kent arrives in Metropolis and searches for a career that defines who he wants to become: football player, researcher, or reporter. Each of these careers is put to the test. His adopted father has passed away and the United States Government has the ship that carried Clark Kent to Earth. An alien invasion force has arrived led by Tryell searching for the last Kryptonian.

There have been two many origins of the man of steel within the last ten years from Superman: Birthright by Mark Waid, Superman: Secret Origins by Geoff Johns, and now Superman: Earth One. These stories really dilute the franchise of Superman including the latest movie Superman Returns. J. Michael Straczynski has left both the Superman and Wonder Woman ongoing titles to pursue future issues of Superman: Earth One. Much publicity has been brought with those two titles however Straczynski has left both titles under 4 issues which is very poor planning on DC Comics. Hopefully the Superman franchise under Straczynski will be stronger due to his focus on the Earth One series.
