INCORRUPTIBLE VOLUME 7 TPB
Writer Mark Waid brought us two characters Plutonian and Max Damage that have reversed their live paths in mid-life. Irredeemable tells us a tale of the Plutonian who was once Earth’s greatest hero turned into an emotionally imbalance one. As a desperate move, the Chinese government sacrificed a third of the world’s population to unleash two mysterious extraterrestrials captured decades ago. They have been revealed to be Plutonian’s parents.
The alien parents take Plutonian to the very end of time to imprison him. However Plutonian manages to expose their compassion so they will reveal his true origins. The two aliens created a probe to mirror the emotional spectrum. When the probe touched a mother, who wanted redemption after she killed her child, it changed into a newborn baby. The unstable mother attempted to kill the newborn through rat poison, burning, and carbon monoxide. After the mother died of carbon monoxide, Plutonian was shipped to a series of foster homes until he began living on his own as the Coalville’s “Wolf Boy.”
Max Damage believes he is to balance of the scales of justice when Plutonian went rogue and is now the hero of his hometown of Coalville. Twenty-two years ago Max decided to trap the “Wolf Boy” however Max is buried alive. Years later Max becomes an ex-con having embraced a life of crime until he encounters Plutonian again. Plutonian recognizes him and crushes his hands before Max is back in prison.
It took us two years to get to these issues and the four part crossover was overhyped by Mark Waid as the true origins of both characters are revealed however the reason Max Damage became a good guy is still a mystery. A secret pact is made between Max Damage and Plutonian off panel which Waid will reveal over time.

The
supervillain Max Damage reforms after witnessing Plutonian killing millions
right before his eyes. Now Max Damage is on the right side of the law again
protecting his home Coalville which is run by the manipulative villain St.
Lucifer. He has built a massive prison on the outskirts of the city. However a
radiation cloud heads towards Coalville while Max Damage and Qubit makes a deal
with Plutonian to save the world.
Police
Lieutenant Armadale commits suicide as St. Lucifier furthers his own plans. St. Lucifer frames meteorologist Bill Henrie Fancies for
the suicide because he was about to reveal the radiation cloud heading towards
Coalville. Not wanting to start a mass panic in Coalville, St. Lucifer frames
him for murder while Max Damage breaks him out of jail. Max and Henrie reveal
over live TV the cloud is heading towards Coalville and panic engulfs the city.
However Alana one of Max’s ex-partner disagrees with his methods.
Now the
people of Coalville have destroyed the Max Damage’s prison while seeking
shelter from the radiation cloud. Max
Damage manages to contain the residents from destroying themselves as Plutonian
saves the planet. Max Damage counts the days until his girlfriend Jailbait
becomes of legal age as they live happily together. The final issue has a
lesser impact than its sister title Irredeemable. Would have been nice to see
another evolution of Max Damage in the end.
