The story
takes place after the animated series Star
Wars: Clone Wars. Darth Maul is captured by his master Darth Sidious. His
imprisonment is short-lived as he is rescued by the Shadow Collective. This
draws the attention of General Grievous who withers Maul’s army. It’s all a
plan by Sidious to draw out the witch Mother Talzin, who was behind Darth
Maul’s resurrection.
Talzin
tells Maul to head to the Black Sun’s stronghold on Ord Mantell. Count Dooku
and General Grievous soon follow and commence bombardment from space as the
Nightbrothers arrive to aid Maul. With their help the tide has turned and both
Dooku and Grievous are captured. The battle draws the attention of the Republic
and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Both Dooku and Maul decide to join forces to fight off the
Republic and quickly made their escape to Dathomir.
This is the final publication of a Darth Maul series by Dark Horse as the
Star Wars license goes back to Marvel Comics. The publications of the Star Wars
titles under Dark Horse will be labeled Star
Wars Legends as the stories may or may not be true.
