Devil Comics Review | Spider-Man #1 [2016] Brian Michael Bendis | Sara Pichelli

Miles Morales debuted in 2011 following the death of the Ultimate Spider-Man who took on the Sinister Six. After giving a hamburger to the Molecule Man in Secret Wars, he is rewarded for his gesture by bringing Miles to the Marvel Universe with his friends and his resurrected mother who died by the hands of Venom in the Ultimate Universe. Continuing his role as Spider-Man, Miles confronts Blackheart who is the son of Mephisto and has defeated the Avengers. He uses his Venom Blast on Blackheart who retreats as Peter Parker as Spider-Man arrives questioning him on his actions. The issue kicks off as a slow burn as always when something is written by Brian Michael Bendis. It would have been nice if we got a summary of Miles time as Spider-Man in the Ultimate Universe and Secret Wars before beginning this series.
