The countdown to 1000 issues of Detective
Comics begins with two people murdered in the similar layout as the death of
the Waynes. Leslie Thompkins is targeted however she dies by the Joker’s
laughing gas while Alfred is stabbed by someone dressed as Zorro. Batman visits
Arkham Asylum to get answers from his rogue gallery. Batman heads to Paris to
confront Henri Ducard however his is attacked by the same creature as Leslie
Thompkins and he is killed. Batman discovers the people who have made him are
targeted. After a journey around the world, Batman heads back to Gotham and
confronts Hugo Strange. He then helps the Demon Etrigan and visits Silas Stone
leading him to confront his younger self. Bruce discovers he is in a tank and
all the attacks was planned by him to make him a better Batman.
