Just in time for the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse film, Marvel Comics releases the Apocalypse Wars beginning with Extraordinary X-Men.

Rehash
The story begins with Cerebra locating lots of new mutants in Tokyo. Storm sends Colossus and his team of newly trained X-Men to Tokyo where they face the Sugar Man from the Age of Apocalypse. Sugar Man reveals he created six hundred mutant embryos and he will be their master. Logan and Storm arrives to discover Sugar Man sent the embryos into the future along with Colossus and his X-Men. Cerebra takes another group of X-Men including Logan, Jean Grey, and Nightcrawler into the future arriving somewhere in the year 3000. They meet up with Colossus’ X-Men and together they encounter the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse consisting of Colossus, Deadpool, Moon Knight and Venom.

The second story takes place in the present where Magik and her protégé Sapna meet with Doctor Strange. We discover that Doctor Strange along with others moved the Jean Grey School to Limbo to establish X-Haven. We discover Sapna has the ability to absorb languages including magic and math. Feedback
Overall this isn’t a bad start to the Apocalypse Wars however the time travel aspects reminds me of the recent Battle of the Atom story a few years ago. The book is five bucks and the Marvel Universe is crowded with various events including Avengers Standoff and the upcoming Civil War II. It’s up to the readers to decide what is best and entertaining for their time and money. This book costs five bucks and with the upcoming DC Comics Rebirth priced at $2.99, Marvel may have some solid competition where event books will not save them.

RECOMMENDED – 4 OUT OF 5
