Devil Comics Review | Lucifer [2018] Season 3

After being kidnapped, Lucifer wakes up with his angel wings and loss of his devil’s face. He discovers the Sinnerman is behind his kidnapping. Lieutenant Marcus Pierce takes over the Lancaster Police Department. It is discovered after Sinnerman is killed that he is an accomplice for Marcus Pierce who is revealed to be Cain. Lucifer teams up with Cain against God by finding a way to murder Cain. 

Cain begins and affair with Chloe as Lucifer intervenes. Now Cain wants to remove Lucifer with the help of Maze who is still reeling from her betray by her friends Linda and Amenadiel. Charlotte discovers what happened to her missing time with the help of Lucifer and Amenadiel. After Cain falls in love with Chloe he loses his mark on his shoulder. Now he proposes to Chloe and she answers 'Yes' as Lucifer watches. Afterwards she rejects him and Cain wants his Mark back. 

Cain decides to kill God's favorite son Amenadiel however he misses and kills Charlotte Richards which returns Amenadiel's wings. He flies her to Heaven as the others search for killer. After discovering Marcus Pierce is the Sinnerman, they go after him and Chloe is shot as Lucifer uses his wings to save her. The final battle between Cain and Lucifer unravels leading to Cain going to Hell and Lucifer getting his Devil face back which Chloe sees for the first time.

Devil Comics Review | Lucifer [2017] Season 2

Lucifer’s mother escapes from Hell and enters the body of a dead woman Charlotte. He sentences his mother into living the life of the body she took. God sends the Angel Uriel to harm Chloe if Lucifer doesn't return her mother to Hell. Lucifer fights brother Uriel and kills him to save both his mother Charlotte and Chloe. Discovers Chloe’s birth was arranged by Lucifer’s father to put in his path. Charlotte plans on using the information to bring Lucifer back to Heaven as Lucifer and Chloe begin a relationship. 

Lucifer and Chloe begin a relationship as he finds out that she was put by his father on Earth. Cohle is infected by a virus and both Lucifer and his mother travel to Hell to find the cure. 

Lucifer has the flaming sword which could cut open the gates of Heaven and return everyone back there. However he uses it to send his mother away to a new world along with the flaming sword. Afterwards Lucifer wakes up in the desert with his wings back.

E70: Deathstroke #5 | He-Man: Eternity War #3 | Suiciders #1 Reviews [Devil Comics Entertainment]

Deathstroke #5 shows Deathstroke battling Batman for the first half of the book before getting away with Harley Quinn. Elsewhere in Gotham both Rose and Jericho meet Possum who uses a app to shut him down as Odysseus arrives with Lady Shiva and Bronze Tiger. Next issue is the finale to the first story arc by Tony Daniel and hopefully will give closure to the story before going to the next arc in June.

The third issue of He-Man: Eternity War refocuses on the Eyes of Grayskull. She-Ra attempts to locate the Eye of Chronos using her sword but first she takes on Horak’s forces. She locates the Eye of Chronos however faces both Catra and Scorpia. After defeating them both She-Ra now faces Hordak. The series is arranged as the events of issue two and three are happening at the same time leading them to come together within the fifth and sixth issues. The series so far is quite enjoyable and worth picking up. 

Suiciders #1 is a story of Los Angeles after suffering the largest earthquake in history thirty years later. Now the entertainment industry is in charge running gladiator games. A wall is raised around the city keeping undesirables out. Those who sneak in get shot and killed. The first issue kicks off strong by Lee Bermejo and I am looking forward to the next issue.

The Wake by Scott Snyder & Sean Murphy TPB [2013-2014]

THE WAKE BY SCOTT SNYDER & SEAN MURPHY TRADE PAPERBACK

Dr. Archer is asked by Agent Cruz to investigate a strange sound coming from beneath of the ice in Alaska. Later she discovers a strange creature captured that looks like a Merman. The Merman frees himself while in the future the moon explodes. The Merman is communicating with its breed and calling them to descend on the underwater base. Dr. Archer turns on the drill to push the creatures back however a larger one is arrives to disable the rig. Now the creatures are planning on destroying the world. As the world ends, the story is flash forward to a new world in the aftermath of part one. Snyder really pulled it off by giving us an epic story spanning thousands of years. 

200 years following the first story arc, the world does not remember how the creatures reclaimed the world however Dr. Archer’s message reveals how to stop the creatures. Leeward is captured by the Arm which is a militant group set after the flood. She is taken aboard a ship which is destroyed by a giant Mer. The creature swallows Leeward however she finds people the outliers led by Captain St. Mary living inside it. Leeward teams up with them to find the origin of the message sent by Dr. Lee Archer. After arriving at their destination and finding nothing the Arms attack and Leeward is about to die until she sees Lee Archer. 

Archer reveals the story of what happened to them and how they are still alive 200 years later. Archer is on a ship that seeded Earth long ago. The Mers were the original inhabitants of Earth. After Batman: Zero Year, my faith in Scott Snyder has been decreasing while reading the second half of The Wake.

Following the events of 100 Bullets #100, Lono is alive in Mexico living at an orphanage and sleeping at the police station. Meanwhile a local drug cartel is dumping bodies at the church land which draws the attention of the local authorities. One of the gang member Paulo returns to kill the priest however Lono takes care of him by breaking his arm. Behind the scene a DEA watches posing as a nun which is blown by the gang member Paulo.

The drug cartel is coming for the orphanage after an incident where Paulo shot at them. Lono is captured by the drug cartel and is going to be tortured. Paulo teams up with the DEA agent posing as a nun and discovers the Sheriff is killed. The Father is held captive as Lono makes his escape and cuts the head of his torturer. Lono kills everyone while the Father and the Fed escape knowing who saved them.

AMERICAN VAMPIRE: THE LONG ROAD TO HELL #1

Writer Scott Snyder and artist Rafael Albuquerque have taken a break from their series, which will return later in the year so they can catch up on other projects. To keep fans happy, two specials will be released over the summer. This special focuses on Travis Kidd the vampire hunter who bites back with teeth. 

Both Jolene and Billy Bob were turned into vampires by Oscar Brood who is a leader of a Coven. Billy Bob stole his ring and run off to Vegas with Jolene to find a cure. The couple is now called the Heartbreak Killers and they brought an orphan named Jasper along to identity potential victims.

Oscar Brood catches up with them however he is killed by vampire hunter Travis Kidd who later realizes the couple are the Heartbreak Killers. Kidd confronts them and the Heartbreak Killers decide its time for them to die. However Jasper suggests they get married first – one last happiness before the big goodbye. An excellent story by Scott Snyder giving you a full story with a definitive ending and worth the price on the cover.

In 2019, a new reality show is in the works with the first human clone: Jesus Christ. Ophis hires Dr. Sarah Epstein to clone Jesus in exchange for funding to protect the environment. The J2 Project holds auditions for a teenage virgin who will live at the LUXE J2 compound. Gwen Fairling is the new Mother Mary while Security Chief of J2 Thomas McKael who is also a former terrorist for the Irish Republican Army. The clone Jesus is named Chris however when Gwen gives birth to him, a twin sister arrives which is secretly discarded.

Dr. Epstein is pregnant with a baby girl and Thomas takes Gwen home. Gwen discovers her home is abandoned and is on the run from Christian Fundamentalists. After returning and Rick Slate decides to turn the J2 compound into a prison, Gwen attempts to kill herself in exchange for Chris to go to public school. Later Gwen shoots Slate and attempts to escape with Chris. Slate fires her and separates both Gwen and Chris. Gwen has entered a behavioral health center and jumps off the building. She is saved by an angel and wakes from her dream only to discover the angel’s handprints on her shoulders.

Rat Catcher TPB [2010]

RAT CATCHER TRADE PAPERBACK

The West Texas Mob’s money launderer Miguel Fuentes has decided to testify against its leader Earl Rawlins. Rawlins is a white supremacist has been using cattle as drug mules making them regular cash cows. However the FBI safehouse with Miguel Fuentes is burned to the ground in the Badlands of West Texas. Three agents are missing and Special Agent Moses Burdon secures the crime scene.

Meanwhile his partner Special Agent Lynch at the safehouse arrives at the El Paso Memorial Hospital. Lynch believed the story of the Rat Catcher with ties to the West Texas Mob. The U.S. Marshals Service arrives at FBI Headquarters in El Paso and team up with Agent Burdon to track down the Rat Catcher. Agent Burdon discovers the bandaged man at the hospital is not his partner Agent Lynch. Agent Lynch has been secretly speaking with Internal Affairs to report Rawlins has someone inside the FBI.

Before the FBI safehouse was burned, Agent Lynch arrived to ask Miguel Fuentes about the Rat Catcher. Fuentes reveals the Rat Catcher is an FBI Agent however Agent Burdon arrives kills the FBI agents and burns the safehouse. In the present Agent Burdon frames his former partner Agent Lynch as the Rat Catcher.

Andy Diggle earned himself as a writer after writing the Vertigo title The Losers. Now with artist Victor Ibanez build a suspenseful story with twists and turns and ending in a way that takes everyone by surprise.

Cinderella: Fables are Forever TPB [2011]

CINDERELLA: FABLES ARE FOREVER TRADE PAPERBACK

Someone has murdered Mr. Kadabra at the farm and left a calling card in the form of a silverslipper ornament for Fabletown’s greatest spy Cinderella. She heads towards her brownstone apartment in Brooklyn only to find Ivan Durak asking for help. The Russian tyrant Tugarin Zmeyevich put out a contract on him and ordered an American assassin known as Silverslipper to do the deed. The assassin is the same as the one who murdered Mr. Kadabra. Cinderalla agrees to help out her fellow Russian able Ivan Durak against the assassin Silverslipper who is really the Wicked Bitch of the East Dorothy Gale.

Dorothy Gale left Oz and headed towards Fabletown in 1943 however her friends had to go to the farm. Angry that her friends couldn’t join her in Fabletown, Dorothy left and no one saw her again. While on a mission in Russia in 1983 searching for a Soviet Fabletown, Cinderalla faces Dorothy and Tugarin Zmeyevich who transforms into a dragon and runs away. Back in 1984 Cinderalla was searching for another shadow Fabletown in Thailand however comes face-to-face with Dorothy again and runs away again.

Cinderalla and Ivan travel to Thailand to meet Madame Meng who is the head of the Chinese Fable community. Madame Meng may have the means to contact and locate Dorothy Gale. However Madame Meng meets an untimely death from a creature from Oz called a Chiss. 

SERIES HIGHLIGHTS

- Before her death Madame Meng manages to tell Cinderella where to go next

- African Fable Anansi captures Cinderella for the Dorothy in 1985

- History repeats itself as Anansi traps and captures Cinderella again

- Cinderella used Snow White as bait during their trip to Switzerland in 1986

- Cinderalla saves the kidnapped Snow White by pushing Dorothy over the falls

- Cinderella and Ivan are taken through a portal to the one of the Homelands

- Ivan drugs Cinderella who later reveals to be the assassin Dorothy Gale

The finale of this series leaves you unfilled as Cinderella taunts Dorothy into letting her go so they could fight one-on-one. It becomes anticlimactic as the issue of Dorothy goes unresolved as she falls supposedly to her death again. Would have been nice if the history of the silver slippers were revealed as the movie version of the Wizard of Oz changed them to ruby red shoes. The previous Cinderella series had a clever ending as she dealt with her Fairy Godmother however this one leaves you hanging.

Cinderella: From Fabletown with Love TPB [2010]

CINDERELLA: FROM FABLETOWN WITH LOVE TRADE PAPERBACK

Cinderella now called Cindy became the top spy under the former sheriff of Fabletown Bigby. Now she is under the new sheriff Beast of Beauty and the Beast. Cindy tracks down illegal trafficking of supernatural artifacts before they are exposed to the mundy world. Armed with a Geiger-ring to detect magical artifacts and a charm bracelet to summon her friends when she needs them, Cindy heads off to the Dubai to track down the magical artifacts and to stop whoever is behind the trafficking. 

Meanwhile back in Fabletown Crispin who works at Cindy’s Glass Slipper Shoes store decides he can run the store better. He sells magical shoes specifically designed to do what the wearer needs however the customers cannot take their shoes off. Now overwhelmed with a mob of dissatisfied customers, the new sheriff Beast arrives and tells Crispin to the remedy the matter.

- Cindy and Aladdin team-up to identity the trafficking assailants 

- Cindy uses her first charm to track down the assailants by summoning Jenny Wren

- Both Cindy and Aladdin are captured and place within an inescapable death trap

- Aladdin activates Cindy’s bracelet to summon Puss-in-Boots to escape their trap

- The 3 concubines were craving up an empire by trading arms for magic artifacts

- Cindy and Aladdin travel to the Fable Homeland of Ultima Thule to find the truth

- Enforcers carry mundy armaments to prohibit unlicensed magic artifacts 

- Aladdin is captured and taken to the Glass Palace while Cindy infiltrates as a maid

- While rescuing Aladdin, Cindy discovers her Fairy Godmother is behind everything

- Godmother’s magic runs out at midnight and Ultima Thule’s midnight is once a year

- Using her charm bracelet Cindy summons Dickory to turn the clock to midnight
