Matt Fraction introduced his version of the Mandarin within the pages of the Invincible Iron Man Annual #1. Fraction reexamined his origins through a point-of-view of a filmmaker within the annual and reintroduces him into the pages of the Invincible Iron Man at the conclusion of Stark Resilient. The web is weaved as the monsters of Tony Stark are united through one family consisting of the Mandarin, Hammer, and Stane.
Marvel’s Point One issue gave of Tony Stark’s life from his personal point-of-view at an Alcohol Anonymous meeting. His relationships with alcohol and women are explored as a teenager growing up and acting like his father. Tony describes Iron Man as his personal shell that he runs into to hide from the world.
