The history of Cybertron begins when the Allspark cube gave life to the first Cybertronian Primus and his descendants the Primes. The Allspark power came from consuming stars so the Primes teleported to uninhabited worlds. However everything ended when a rogue Prime craved power for himself and the other Primes had to stop him from using the Star Harvester against Earth (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen). Now the Transformers on Cybertron were masterless so they divided into tribes starting recurring wars.
Sentinel Prime used the Allspark to bring Cybertron into orbit around a star, which stopped the war between the tribes. The Transformers are united on Unification Day in the capitol city of Trypticon
This is a great detailed background story on the Transformers detailing the rivalry between Optimus Prime and Megatron. The story brought together the history of the Primes and incorporated the movies involving the Allspark. This is a great introduction to the Transformers Universe.
