FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2011: AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

The origin of Spider-Man is retold by Julia Carpenter who is now the current Madame Web. Writer Dan Slott and artist Humerto Ramos begins their tale with fellow Avengers Spider-Woman smacking her teammate Spider-Man around Fifth Avenue. Spider-Woman is under the influence of Mandrill who has amped-up pheromones that controls all women. Spider-Man heads into a department store and soaks himself in perfume to negate the influence of Mandrill and his amped-up pheromones on Spider-Woman. Together both Avengers take on Mandrill.

Watching high above Fifth Avenue are Madame Web and Master of Kung Fu Shang-Chi. Madame Web explains to Shang-Chi that Spider-Man lost his spider-sense and his ties to the “Web of Life” is severed. Shang-Chi agrees to teach Spider-Man Kung Fu as well as the “Way of the Spider.” The stage is set as Spider-Island begins in Amazing Spider-Man #666 and the Big Time era of the Spider-Man transforms into End Times.
