Superman: The Reign of Doomsday HC [2011]

SUPERMAN: THE REIGN OF THE DOOMSDAY HARDCOVER
The final Superman adventure within Action Comics before the DC Comics September relaunch features the nemesis Doomsday who brought the death of Superman in 1992. The story began with Doomsday fighting all the characters who sprung up during the Reign of Supermen (1993) including Steel, Superboy, Supergirl, Eradicator, and Cyborg-Superman. Each of the characters were defeated and taken on abroad a mysterious alien ship. Superman finally arrives only to discover the Doomsday that each of the Reign of Supermen replacements fought was not one but different Doomsdays. Each Doomsday was upgraded to defeat Steel, Superboy, Supergirl, Eradicator, and the Cyborg-Superman.

The alien ship contains a private universe where one can get lost forever. Supergirl threw on the Doomsdays into one of the multiple tunnels within the ship. Meanwhile the ship is on a collision course towards Earth by the mastermind Doomslayer, who tears the Eradicator apart with his hands. Our heroes escape the ship with the original Doomsday in tow to stop it from crashing into Earth. The ship lands into the water as a tidal wave rushes towards Metropolis. Steel, Superboy, and Supergirl stop the tidal wave however the Doomsdays are now on Earth ready to wreak havoc. The original Doomsday is taken into S.T.A.R Labs where we learn he is inhibited by the Eradicator who joins the fight against the Doomsdays.

After the failed attempt of crashing the ship into Earth’s surface, the Doomslayer plans on sending the ship into the Earth’s core then expanding its size to planetary level to destroy the Earth. The Doomsday which Supergirl threw into one of the multiple tunnels evolved after millions of years into the Doomslayer who plans to erase the existence of the Doomsdays. Next month Grant Morrison takes over the title with an all new Action Comics volume beginning with the first issue.
