Incredible Hulks: Heart of the Monster TPB [2011] by Greg Pak

'
INCREDIBLE HULK: HEART OF THE MONSTER TRADE PAPERBACK

Series writer Greg Pak ends his run with the Incredible Hulk which he began in 2006 with Planet Hulk. These past years the supporting cast of the Hulk grew with his allies the Warbound, his son Skaar, General Thunderbolt Ross as Red Hulk, Rick Jones as A-Bomb, and Betty Ross as the Red She-Hulk. Now the series whines down to bring the Hulk back to the basics. In October writer Jason Aaron (PunisherMax) and artist Marc Silvestri (Cyberforce, Darkness) team up on the Incredible Hulk #1. The series will began as Bruce Banner is literally separated from the Hulk.
Following the last story arc “The Spy Who Smashed Me,” Betty Ross reverts to the Red She-Hulk and leaves with Tyrannus who shows her the Fountain of Youth beneath Las Vegas. However Scientist Supreme Monica Rappaccini of AIM interrupts the couple and transforms the Fountain of Youth into a Wishing Well. The Red She-Hulk makes the first wish while all subsequent wishes are within her parameter of wishes. The Hulk arrives as Amadeus Cho accidently makes an errant wish for help bringing back the Hulk’s all-time greatest villains including the Wendigo creature, Bi-Beast Android, the Warlord Arm’Cheddon, Mistress Umar, and Fin Fang Foom.

As the Wishing War ensues Bruce Banner made a wish for his family to be cured. Both A-Bomb and She-Hulk revert back to Rick Jones and Jennifer Walters after being poisoned by Arm’Cheddon. The Hulk is sent into the Dark Dimension with Umar in a never-ending battle while Tyrannus travels back to Earth left undefended by the Hulk.

Umar returns both Hulk and Red She-Hulk to Earth facing the onslaught of destruction unleashed by Tyrannus. Hulk make a final wish allowing Rick Jones, Jen Walters, and Betty Ross to control their transformations into their alter egos. The events of Heart of the Monster clearly takes place before the events of Fear Itself however writer Greg Pak presents and enjoyable story to close out his run on the Hulk.
