Avengers: Revengers Premiere HC [2012] by Brian Michael Bendis

Writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Gabriele Dell’Otto bring you a two-part of Wonder Man and his Revengers team taking on both the New Avengers and Avengers. The story takes place prior to the events of Fear Itself and Spider-Island.

Wonder Man assembles his Revengers consisting of D-Man, Anti-Venom, Ethan Edwards, Goliath, Century, Atlas, Captain Ultra, and Devil-Slayer. Wonder Man mentions his grievances including Ultron who is a genocidal killing machine invented by Avengers founding member Dr. Henry Pym. The Scarlet Witch who was responsible for House of M and M-Day however still at large. Tony Stark taking on Captain America in Civil War. The Hulk roaming around free and no one stopping him. Normal Osborn commanding the Avengers which ended with Siege and the murder of the Sentry.

The Revengers take on the New Avengers with ease paving the way for a showdown with the Avengers. The story is very straight forward and short. The New Avengers Annual is quite expensive at $4.99 with only 30 pages of story which is 8 pages more than the average 22 page book available at $2.99. Bendis brings a brilliant resolution to the battle between the Revengers and the Avengers. The choices and consequences from the previous comic continuity build to a fever pitch to enrich the story and the characters. Bendis is the writer of choice for the Avengers however he is ending his run with Avengers Vs. X-Men in 2012.

Steve Rogers asks Sharon Carter assembles every Avenger to deal with Simon Williams. The main Avengers team help recover the New Avengers after the onslaught of the Revengers. However the Revengers have already begun attacking Avengers tower as a diversion so Wonder Man can assemble his team for a media rally. Iron Man quickly subdues Wonder Man within his ionic form as Thor asks the other Revengers to surrender. As the Revengers prepare them to fight, Thor teleports them to a stadium for the final showdown. Each of the Revengers are questioned for their role and reason to join Wonder Man.
