ULTIMATE COMICS X-MEN VOLUME 2 PREMIERE HARDCOVER

Quicksilver convinces the President to link the Nimrod fleet into Cerebra to track mutants. The mutant William Stryker transferred his consciousness into the Sentinels and begins his attack on the mutant population. Quicksilver runs to Egypt to seek confront in his father Magneto.

Valeria Cooper discovers Karen Grant is really Jean Grey and confronts Nick Fury about sending her to Tian. However Fury reveals Karen never got on the plane and her presence in Tian is a projection but Karen pledges his allegiance to Xorn.

Following Magneto’s Ultimatum Wave, the United States government sends mutants into concentration camps. Colossus is tortured for information while John Walker (AKA U.S.Agent in the Marvel 616 Universe) works with Storm to build goodwill. Stacy X serves as a leader within the camps similar to Malcolm X. The revelation that mutants were experiments and not an evolutionary step upsets many mutants. Storm leads the resistance by destroying the Sentinels and setting off a riot.

Nick Spencer gave us a decompressed story with teasers before handing off the writing chores to Brian Wood. The next twelve issues of Ultimate Comics X-Men will comprise of two storylines: Divided We Fall and United We Stand. Both will serve a need status quo for the Ultimate line as they lead into their twenty-fifth issues.
