Elle Peterssen is attacked on a subway platform and slips
into a coma. Elle is trapped in a place called The Garden a gap between life
and death. There are others in The Garden who slipped between life and death. Elle
manages to touch a body of a dying man and inhibits his body before returning
back to The Garden. She tries to inhibit her own body and fails before running
into Doctor Harold Crenshaw who has arrived at The Garden.
Elle manages to “talk” to her best friend Jo Wilson using
the Memory Wall. Crenshaw helps her understand how the Memory Wall works while
her boyfriend Dane Miller is arrested. The evidence to support this arrest came
from his father Lonnie.
