In the past Josiah Louis Boniface takes on Master Darque and they both disappears into a portal to the Deadside. A pregnant Helena LeBreton leaves New Orleans and an adult Jack Boniface returns years later looking for answers about his birth parents. He finds them criminals and throws away the necklace his mother gave him.

In the present a vicious entity called Mr. Twist is created out of dead bodies and controls two New Orleans police officers. They arrest Jack and shoot him dead. However since Jack threw away the amulet the Shadowman Host, Loa, has found him and bonds with him. Shadowman only weakness is that he can be killed in board daylight. While Jack meets both Alyssa Myles and Dox, Master Darque plans to return back and tells Mr. Twist to deal with the new Shadowman.
