X-MEN: BATTLE OF THE ATOM PREMIERE HARDCOVER
The
10-part series begins with both the All-New X-Men and Uncanny X-Men teaming up
to defeat the mutant-hunting Sentinels. The younger Cyclops is shot while the
older Cyclops disappears. The younger Cyclops is revived and the older Cyclops
reappears. The X-Men at the Jean Grey School decide its time to send the younger
original X-Men back just as the X-Men from 50 years from now appears.
However
Jean Grey cannot read their minds so she causes a distraction and runs with the
Blackbird with Cyclops. The grandson of Xavier was blocking their thoughts and
Xorn is revealed to be a future Jean Grey. Cyclops and Jean Grey run to the
Uncanny X-Men for help.
Magik
goes into the future as Wolverine and the X-Men arrive. A psychic battle
between Xorn and Emma Frost with her students including the young Jean Grey
occurs. Cyclops discovers Xorn is really the young Jean Grey who stayed in the
present. Now Xorn wants to send her younger self back where she belongs. Magik
returns from the future and takes the younger Hank McCoy and Iceman into the
future.
The young
Jean Grey defeats Xorn and sees her future and decides to go back. Magik,
McCoy, and Iceman travel to a completely different future with a different set
of X-Men. In the future Alison Blaire becomes the first mutant U.S. President
who is later assassinated. Magik returns with the real X-Men from the future
and questions linger on who are the other mutants claiming to be X-Men
including: Xorn, Ice Hulk, an older Kitty Pryde, the grandson of Xavier, and
Deadpool.
The future
“X-Men” attempt to retrieve both young Iceman and Beast however discover they
already went to the future. The ruse is over and Wolverine is stabbed by his son
from the future whose mother is Mystique.
