CATACLYSM: THE ULTIMATES’ LAST STAND HARDCOVER

Following the events of Age of Ultron, the Marvel-616 Galactus arrives in the Ultimate Universe and wreaks havoc on the Kree homeworld. Thanks to the help of Captain Marvel, Silver Surfer, and Rick Jones the Kree homeworld is saved however Galactus has turned his attention to Earth. Now the Ultimate Marvel characters have their hands full dealing with the arriving menace.

The stories are written by Josh Hale Fialkov and Brian Michael Bendis who was the original architect of the Ultimate Universe. The original series of Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate X-Men, and the Ultimates were suspended to focus on Cataclysm and its importance in the Ultimate Universe similar to Ultimatum. 

The Vision was created to warn worlds of the Gah Lak Tus swarm however when the swarm reached Earthfall during Hunger it was merged with the 616 Galactus. Now Vision heads towards space to confront and attempt to stop him. She fails however she knows someone who can save Earth from Galactus – Reed Richards. 

       

      

Reed Richards and Miles Morales is sent to an alternative Earth and head to the Baxter Building to find a way to stop Galactus. Reed sends Miles back with the information as he is confronted by his daughter Valeria. He returns to reveal to the Ultimates who they are facing and the destruction that awaits. The X-Men arrive on the scene and Captain America grabs Kitty Pryde fro their plan to stop Galactus. As Galactus catches onto the plan, Captain America supposedly sacrifices himself by piloting a plane into Galactus’ face.

Kitty Pryde takes on Galactus one-on-one while Reed Richards opens a portal to the Negative Zone. Spider-Man saves Kitty Pryde from being pulled into the portal while Thor returns and pushes Galactus through the Negative Zone. 

The Ultimates destroy Reed Richard’s City of Tomorrow with the help of Danny Ketch who dies and is reborn as Machine Man.

Galactus makes Earthfall and destroys New Jersey as the Ultimates arrive on the scene. Tony Stark discovers he is not from our universe and the Gah Lak Tus swarm takes over the Hulk as well as other members of the New Ultimates. Spider-Man reveals his identity to his father and unites with other heroes to save innocents after a plane crashed. He is summoned by Captain America who has a plan. To be continued in Cataclysm #4.

   

The X-Men deal with one of Gah Lak Tus swarm until Rick Jones arrives as Captain Marvel in a pocket dimension. Pixie recharges herself so she can return them all home however she is stabbed a one of the Gah Lak Tus swarm.  Pixie dies however the X-Men return home to face Galactus.
