The
Rebels rescue Sabine’s father on Mandalore before he is executed by the Empire. They rescue her father however the Empire responds by using a weapon designed by Sabine to penetrate Mandalore armor. Sabine Darksaber to the rightful leader of Mandalore. The Rebels head back to Yavin IV to stop the Empire's new communication relay with the help of Saw Gerrera. Now Saw needs Sabine and Erza's help to infiltrate an Imperial ship to discover what the Empire is building as they killed the people of Geonosis to silence them. They find prisoners who specialize in building a reactor core and a large Kyber crystal for the Empire's superweapon. Saw destroys the Kyber crystal while Erza and Sabine save the prisoners who later join the Rebellion. The Rebels head back to Lothal to deal with the Empire's new version of the Tie Defender. They plan an attack on the Tie Defender factory. Sabine and Ezra steal a Tie Defender and Grand Admiral Thrawn tests their abilities. They manage to steal the flight data recorder of the Tie Defender to use against the Empire. Hera takes the flight data recorder to Mon Mothma and plans are under way to destroy the Tie Defender factory. The Rebel attack fails and Kanan and Erza has to rescue Hera from the planet however she is captured by the Empire.
Kanan rescues Hera but sacrifices himself to save his friends. Erza receives a Jedi tablet and the Rebels need to get to the Jedi Temple to decipher the tablet. The Jedi Temple holds a pathway through time and space so the Empire wants it to control the universe. Erza enters the pathway and witnesses the battle between Darth Vader and Ashoka. Before Ashoka perishes Erza saves her by pulling into the pathway to the present. The Rebels decide to free Ezra's homeworld of Lothal and capture Governor Arihnda Pryce of the Lothal. They travel to the capital of Lothal and capture it as Grand Admiral Thrawn arrives and bombards the city's civilian population.
Ezra surrenders himself to Thrawn who takes him to the Emperor and he is tempted to rejoin his parents through the Jedi gateway or save his friends. Erza destroys the gateway as the shield generator is activated to protect the city from Thrawn's bombardment. The Purrgil arrives and destroy's the Empire's fleet and takes both Thrawn and Erza away to parts unknown. The rest of the Rebels free Lothal and Pryce perishes. The series flashforwards after the Battle of Endor and Sabine and Ashoka search for Erza.
