Writer Jonathan Maberry returns to the post-apocalyptic world of the Marvel Universe infected by flesh eating zombies. Last year Maberry brought us the Marvel Universe Vs. The Punisher, now he brings us the prequel of the story beginning with the captured Spider-Man who ate the Rhino on live television. Later Wolverine realizes the infection has spread after Psylocke has been murdered and devoured by an unknown assailant.Wolverine travels back to Utopia to help find a cure however found the X-Men infected. He had no choice except to kill everyone one of them as the plague has caused a global pandemic.
Reed Richards and Hank Pym discover anyone who is infected has their DNA changed into an entirely different species of cannibal predators. The disease was created by scientists to allow survivors to adapt to a post global nuclear war called Survivor 118. For Reed Richards and Hank Pym to develop an anti-virus,they would some of the original Survivor 118, which was recently shipped to the US by the Red Mafiya to sell as a bioweapon. However the Red Mafiya was ambushed and killed by the Punisher and the whereabouts of the shipment is unknown. Wolverine tracks down the Punisher.
We are reminded of how Survivor 118 made the Punisher immune however turned others into cannibal predators. Reed Richards orders Wolverine to bring the Punisher in so he can extract the Survivor 118 from the Punisher’s blood and tissues.Wolverine and the Punisher arrive at the Baxter Building only to find Spider-Man and an infected Beast devouring Hank Pym. After Spider-Man escapes, Wolverine, Reed Richards, and the Punisher face off against the pathongenically transformed Thing, Thundra, and Red She-Hulk.
After their defeat, the Thing turns to the Hulk for help to eliminate any resistance.Wolverine and his band of heroes need to hold the line on the bridge for the science team to find a cure. The battle between the heroes and the cannibal predators rages as Wolverine takes on the Hulk. The Hulk bites off Wolverine’s arm as Johnny Storm went nova and destroys the bridge as well as both sides of the army.
