THE NEW 52 #1 FREE COMIC BOOK DAY
The
mystery of the book foreshadows several things for the future of the DC
Universe within their upcoming event Trinity
War. There will connectivity between the first wave of the New 52 and the
recently released second wave of books consisting of Earth 2, Batman Incorporated,
Dial H, etc. The Trinity War maybe
DC Comics answer to Marvel’s Civil War
where heroes battle heroes.
The book
introduced both the Red Room of S.T.A.R. Labs and the Black Room of A.R.G.U.S.
The Red Room peers into the universe of Earth 2 with the Monitor Machine while
the Black Room stores supernatural relics of the DC Universe similar to the TV
series Warehouse 13. The secrets of
the Black Room will be revealed with Justice
League Dark #11.
The
Trinity of Sin is summoned to the Rock of Eternity to stand judgment before the
Council of Shazam. Someone similar to Judas is thrown pieces of silver to wear
around his neck and walk the Earth as the Phantom Stranger. The second member
of the Trinity of Sin challenges the Council however they take away his face so
he will question his identity forever. Now Pandora who is sentenced to an
eternity of loneliness is guilty of opening the box unleashing the terrors,
tragedy, and torment of man. The origins of the Phantom Stranger, the Question,
and Pandora are revealed to the New 52 Universe.
Pandora
steals the contents of the box she opened and sentenced for from A.R.G.U.S.’
Black Room. DC Comics lays the foundation for their next event Trinity War as a
civil war erupts between the heroes. The story is cryptic however it builds
enough curiosity to warrant another look at the Justice League title by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee.
