While DC Comics enjoys their higher sales from their new 52 releases, Marvel Comics struggles to the fill the gap between the months before their next event in2012. Following their previous event Fear Itself, Marvel releases a host of duds hoping to capture and hold onto their market share including Battle Scars and Fear Itself: The Fearless. While other titles like Avengers: X-Sanction counts down to the 2012 mega-event between the Avengers and the X-Men.
Matt Fraction
Matt Fraction who was the architect for Fear Itself unnecessarily rewards himself with a new title of Defenders.Fraction also continues the adventures of a new God of Thunder within the pages of the Mighty Thor and brings back the Mandarin in the Invincible Iron Man.
Brian Michael Bendis
Brian Michael Bendis brings back the threat of the Dark Avengers and H.A.M.M.E.R. within the pages of the New Avengers and Avengers. He is also writing the continuing adventures of the new Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales. Bendis also continues with Moon Knight with his Daredevil artist Alex Maleev who is also teaming up with Warren Ellis on Secret Avengers.
Jonathan Hickman
Jonathan Hickman continues the adventures of Fantastic Four and its spin-off FF as the battle between the Council of Reeds and the Future Foundation continues toward sits conclusion. Hickman is also writing S.H.I.E.L.D.and Ultimate Comics Ultimates.
Jason Aaron
Jason Aaron teams with super artist Marc Silvestri on the Incredible Hulk and artist Chris Bachalo (Generation X) on Wolverine & The X-Men. Aaron is also continuing the mature version of the Punisher within PunisherMax and beginning a new story arc of Wolverine cumulating towards its twenty-fifth issue.
The writers are the key to any comic as they establish the trust with their readers. Brian Michael Bendis and Jonathan Hickman have established their titles are worth picking up including Ultimate Spider-Man and Fantastic Four.Other writers including Matt Fraction (Fear Itself) and Jason Aaron (PunisherMax) are proven their inconsistencies with their writing so enjoying their titles are a toss up. Following the X-Men: Schism, only two titles seem to be worthy of picking up which are Wolverine & The X-Men drawn by Chris Bachalo and Uncanny X-Force by writer Rick Rememder.
